A Real Solution To The Silent Struggle Of Teenage Boys.
A Character-Building Brotherhood for Teenage Boys (Ages 13-17)
It is no secret that we have a crisis happening for the wellbeing and future of our teenage boys.Â
A lack of male role models, a misguided advice indulging a societal trend of installing guilt and shame towards boys, has created a crisis that has impacted everyone in society.Â
It is not about the influences teenage boys have available but what’s missing from their lives.Â
Every boy desires within himself a hero when he is young. He watches them, reads about them and acts them out in play.
This natural gravitation to the morality of the hero is something we have reignited and forged into a guiding force for young teenage men.Â
As seasoned long term coaches for children and teenagers, we found out something of vital importance.Â
Rather than keep talking about the problems a teenager has, we discovered if you empower them with potential, confidence and inspiration about who they are, those issues become a secondary focus and the young hero takes centre stage!Â
"The secret to happiness is freedom - and the secret to freedom is courage." - Thucydides
From Boy To Man Â
The transition from a boy to becoming a young responsible man can not only be difficult but even delayed as uncertainty of identity and fear, can see boys unable to make the transition to a man. The mixed messages they are currently told is adding further confusion.
Young Kingmakers creates that initiation—not through lectures on what boys are doing wrong, but through teaching them what it means to be a man of character.
By adopting an approach and a philosophy of courage, respect and self- discipline for young teenagers, this actually creates excitement and inspiration to embrace their maturity and makes them realise the opportunities this will bring them in their career and life choices.
THE 7 RULES OF SELF-DISCIPLINE (For Young Kingmakers):
RULE #1: CHARACTER
Who you are when no one's watching. Not who you perform for your friends, parents, or teachers—but who you actually are in private.
RULE #2: COURAGE
Standing up when it's hard. Not just physical bravery, but moral courage: doing the right thing even when your friends don't.
RULE #3: THE INNER BATTLE
Mastering yourself first. Controlling impulses, managing emotions, choosing discipline over comfort.
RULE #4: INTENTION
Guarding your focus. In a world of phone addiction, gaming, and endless distractions—learning to protect your attention.
RULE #5: ACTION
Discipline without motivation. Showing up even when you don't feel like it. Keeping promises to yourself.
RULE #6: BROTHERHOOD
You need other men. Real friends who challenge you, not toxic ones who drag you down.
RULE #7: LEGACY
What kind of man will you become? Not "what do you want to do" but "who do you want to be."
Emotional Resilience
The demonising of feelings and emotions or overly focusing on emotions is something much of the self help industry has stalled at. Teenage boys do not want to endlessly talk about their thoughts and emotions because it actually makes them feel worse.
Anxiety, anger and everything in-between, can be understood and utilised by teenagers, so they can use these emotions towards positive and creative outcomes. Emotions then become fuel for the very things teenagers want to accomplish.
Combating Social Media & Comparison
Is there any greater area of concern than social media?
Teenagers mostly do not understand how inadequacy, insecurity and fear manifest on social media and once they understand this, they take a very different view of it.
Validation and attention seeking have become the false panacea to a lack of identity and insecurity, so introducing and teaching the values of the great philosophies, installing something far more powerful and helpful, creates a genuine confidence and courage that grows more stronger over time.
Easing The Pressure Off Of Academics & Life
Much attention has been raised regarding the dropping academic levels in teenage boys.
The solution isn’t to tell them to work harder. It’s to empower them further outside of the academic environment so self-worth becomes an independent aspect of school study or work role.
It’s not just important but sometimes lifesaving that young teenagers know they have worth just for being here, regardless of what grades they get. This frees them to strive and achieve without attaching their own self-esteem to a result.
Family Dynamics
Having coached children and teenagers for over 3 decades, I have seen all manner of family backgrounds and situations.
Young Kingmakers acts as a powerful aid for struggling families, single parent scenarios and those parents that need an outside support, where a little extra guidance is often vital.
Regardless of background, we reveal to teenagers the potential they contain that they have often confused as unlucky or being broken as a result of difficult times.
This can be turned on it’s head and those that were told they are behind and broken, become the greatest voices of change.

What People Are Saying
“Simon gave our children the confidence to overcome issues of low self esteem, bullying, social media pressure and general day to day stresses. We saw positive changes within the first few sessions with both of our children. Simon’s training method has provided them with the discipline and strength of mind to make positive changes themselves, that we believe has set them up for life.”
– Justin & Lesley Dighton Kent.
“Simon’s work should be taught in schools. He prepares children for life far more than simply just aiming at getting good grades. An inspiring mentor.”
– Paul Stevens, London
“As parents of a teenager with a severe and debilitating anxiety disorder, who had found NHS services a dead end. With his holistic approach and natural warmth, Simon connected with our son quickly and incorporated into their sessions a much wider set of techniques than other therapists we had tried. Simon has been a wonderful source of support for our whole family throughout such a distressing time.
– Sarah Robinson Kent.
