The Courage Of Patience

May 13, 2021

People don't really value what is easily come by.

We live in a society that wants instant gratification and fast results.

This has resulted in weak willed mindsets and a society that easily conforms.

The pursuit and attainment of temporary pleasures leaves an uncomfortable feeling which we often cannot verbalise, but we are aware of the void that is felt and caused by an easy access to our desires.

We often desire what we don’t need and are frightened of the work necessary to attain what we need.

Character is carved in massive effort and patience is the staple needed to allow character to emerge.

Good character is not formed in a week or a month. It is created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good character.’ - Heraclitus

Patience takes faith and courage.

It is needed for the work ahead.

Not just any work but work that forces us to see ourselves in all our vulnerable reality and encourages us to step up and become better, wiser and more robust.

This is real work. Far reaching work that creates the world around us and delivers an unwavering self belief in our abilities.

Great work uncovers courage, integrity and humility and this requires an aware patience.

Why aware?

Joyce Meyer beautifully sums it up below:

Patience is not simply the ability to wait - it's how we behave while we're waiting.’
